In a bold initiative to combat drug abuse, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’. This campaign is designed to mobilize young Indians to spearhead a nationwide movement against the perils of drug addiction. Spanning 100 weeks, the drive will feature various public participation activities every Sunday, including sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programs, and community outreach efforts.
During a virtual address to the participants, Prime Minister Modi underscored the detrimental impact of drug trafficking, which he described as a tool used by adversarial forces to undermine India’s interests and weaken its youth. He highlighted the critical importance of shielding the younger generation from addiction as a cornerstone for building a developed India, or Viksit Bharat.
Modi expressed pride in the involvement of more than one crore young individuals from diverse backgrounds in this significant campaign. He applauded their commitment to the cause and their determination to foster awareness about the dangers of drug use within their communities.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the efforts of lakhs of youths who have made personal pledges to abstain from drugs. Their dedication to raising awareness and educating others about the risks and consequences of drug abuse is seen as a pivotal element in the success of the campaign and the broader goal of a drug-free India.
