In the midst of an ongoing investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds meant for the Ram Mandir construction, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has accepted the resignations of two prominent figures: General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra. The trust’s treasurer, Govind Giri, noted that the decision to accept their resignations was made in accordance with the trust’s constitutional guidelines. While making the announcement, Giri took a moment to acknowledge the significant role Champat Rai has played in the trust since its inception.
The resignations are linked to recent allegations about irregularities observed during the counting process of donations received for the temple’s construction. Pankaj Jaiswal, a senior member of the trust, expressed his dismay, labeling the incident as both painful and shameful. He underscored the gravity of the situation, stating that any form of theft involving the contributions of devotees is utterly unacceptable.
In response to these developments, Krisha Mohan has been appointed as the interim General Secretary, while Govind Giri will retain his position as treasurer. These changes come as the trust prepares for a crucial meeting scheduled for July 22, by which time the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is anticipated to deliver its final report on the matter.
Govind Giri has emphasized the trust’s commitment to transparency and accountability, asserting that no individual found guilty of wrongdoing will be shielded from legal consequences, irrespective of their standing within the organization. This statement comes amid the arrest of eight individuals connected to the alleged theft of donations, as the investigation continues to unravel the details of the case.
